| Review of Platinum Dolls of New York:
I'm a New Yorker. I'll admit it. When I found out that there was a porn site based from NY, my first thought was, what kind of dirty skanks could they find to do porn in NY? I mean I'm sure theres a ton of them, but could it possibly lead to good porn? Well, it turns out that the webmasters here are from Long Island, which is about four-five hours away from here. Which is still cool that they are close, but at least they don't have the dreaded Albany girls! Seriously though, I do have a sense a pride about my hometown girls. I go to the mall and see all kinds of girls I would like to see naked. And in porn. And maybe a few of them have traveled to LI to show themselves off here!
Platinum Dolls of NY is a traditional site with a focus on amateur girls and porn. When I say amateur, the level of amateur here is hard to describe. This seems more amateur than the stuff you see on most "reality" sites, but it seems less amateur than the stuff you see on the true amateur sites, like project voyeur and watchers web. There is no theme per se, the idea here is basically focused on the girls. Platinum Dolls tries to get the best girls from the area to show up and do dirty things on camera. It is semi amateur, and it's pretty good stuff. I actually liked the girl based theme a lot, even if it is kind of bland sometimes. It also gives the webmasters a lot of wiggle room as far as the theme goes. That means there can be quite a bit of variety on the site, and that is something else Platinum Dolls of NY excels in.
When you first sign onto the site, you are given a members page which is neat and well organized. There is a nice little design to this site, with a gray cool design on both sides. In the middle you can get the latest video and photo updates. The thumbnails here on the front page could have been a little bigger and better, but they are still nice and clean and clear. Theres also a toolbar on the top which works very good, making the site easy to navigate. You can check updates by videos, pictures, or by the actual girl. So you have some nice options and you can move along how you please. I really can't make any complaints about this site setup. It really worked out nicely and it was very easy to use while also looking pretty cool and clean. So big thumbs up on the site design here.
You can either select pictures or videos here, as both sections have focus and are done well. I went with the videos first, because I'm more of a video fan than a picture fan. When you get to the videos page, you are given one thumbnail per set. Not a big thumbnail, and a few of them you can't even see the girl that well. There is also a little description, and you can click on this to take you to the video download page for that set. Here, you get a thumbnail per segment and you can go ahead and download it. The thumbnail on the set page is different from the one on the main page. The videos are sometimes segmented, but the most segments I've seen is three. Most of the time it is left to less than that. The videos only come in WMV format, and one quality option.
The quality of these WMVs is pretty good. They weight in at about 696k, and they look and sound pretty good. This is not perfect quality, but for the more amateur side of this site, they are pretty good. In fact, the quality here is better than many reality sites I've seen, and I'm assuming those guys have a lot more to their disposal. The videos at regular size are a tad on the small side, you really have to full screen them to get a good video experience. At full screen, you do get a little bit of pixelation and blur when theres a lot of motion. But overall, these videos are good quality and enjoyable!
The pictures on Platinum Dolls of NY are also a big focus here. No vidcaps here. The girls are the same from the videos set, but it's a completely different set. That is really cool, and it doubles your content instead of halving it. When you select the gallery you want, you are given a page with the entire set on one page. This can be a little cumbersome when theres a really big gallery. When you click the pic you like, the full sized one shows up in a new window. This picture is kinda unimpressive, its not too huge but it is pretty clear. But overall, I'd say the pictures are the weaker of the two sections, but you could definately do a lot worse (most sites do!)
The girls on the site were pretty damn hot. As I alluded to, the girls here look more amateurish than on most other sites. But at the same time, they are still very attractive women. A few of them were actually really awesome to me. Others are kind of bland, but still good looking girls. Nothing really much to say about them, most of them were white girls who were pretty attractive, but at the same time didn't look like your typical porn stars. The action here is really varied. Most of the scenes are your basic male/female sex scenes. But they did throw some spice into some of the sets. One I saw was very hardcore. Another I saw had three girls doing anal. So it's hard to generalize, I guess when you ask what they do, they can say "whatever we want!"
At the time of review, Platinum Dolls had just taken a complete site overhaul. Their content is therefore very consistent, but they just started rebuilding the site. At the time of review, there were about 40 sets of content. That is a nice number, and considering that the pictures and the videos are quite different, you can really consider that to be 80 sets of content. Not at all bad. Considering that the page is updated weekly, you definately will get more and more content as time goes on as well. Unfortunately there are no bonus sites attached here, which kind of makes this a little lower on the totem pole. Still, it's a nice amount of content and it is updated weekly!
Conclusion
Platinum Girls of NY is a solid site. If you are a little sick of all the reality sites, and of all the overproduced video sites, this makes for a great stop. You get the quality of those sites with the more homeliness feeling of amateur sites. Good stuff, I enjoyed my stay here and I'm sure you will too!
