| Review of Speculum Masturbation:
I actually have a funny speculum story. You know you're a pretty big pig when you can say that! Anyway, one time I was preparing a new website, an offshoot of a previous website. I wanted something funny, something cool, something unique as a logo. Keep in mind this was not a porn or personal website, rather one about music. I just had to use a speculum. I had a friend fetch me the best speculum picture she could find, and then I had a new logo/entrance page. I never thought I'd have a chance to share that story with anyone except those involved, but it turns out I come across a site named Speculum Masturbation and it becomes relevant all over again.
Speculum Masturbation is a site with a focus on masturbation with a speculum and other medical instruments. As you can probably figure out, it's not a site for everyone. Different masturbation tools can be fun, but the speculum does things that a lot of us guys just don't want to see. Thats cool, those of us who are uninterested by the subject can just pass. But those of us who like the subject can definately read on, and see what this site has to offer!
When you first sign on to Speculum Masturbation, you are given a members page which is kind of sloppy and hard to understand. It gives the latest updates, but at the same time, it does so in a confusing manner. The clips don't seem to match up, and you are just confused throughout your experience here. The good things are that theres not a lot of crap or BS on the site, which is cool. It's just confusing. One other thing is that they have the laziness of having the same members page as the previews page, so the links for "joining" are still there. Just lazy.
Ok, here comes the big rant. Those site design rants were little. Speculum Masturbation uses a "token" system of downloading the porn. So basically, you sign up for the site, pay your membership dues, and then you are given a certain number of tokens to use to download the videos. I'm not sure if it varies by membership length, but our account had 100 tokens. For every segment you download, you have to "pay" 3 tokens for good quality and 2 tokens for lower quality. And each girl has about 10 segments. Therefore, I'll say you can download about 4 full sets with your allotted tokens, and then you have to buy even more. What crap! On top of that, these videos are also DRMed, which means that you have to acquire a license for them and you cannot view them after your membership expires. It's like the site wants to piss off their customers in as many ways as they can. And to be honest, they'd be pretty successful if that was indeed their goal. Anyway, this is a pretty crappy experience all around.
There are two qualities of WMV here. The videos are segmented. They are two minute segments, which leads to lots of segments and lots of tokens used if you like a girl. The quality here is actually awesome, 978K and very clear picture. You can full screen the videos and they look stunning. The camerawork and the action are all very good. The only thing that sucks is that because of the way they present their site, you probably won't get any of the content.
There are also pictures on Speculum Masturbation. For what its worth, the pictures are excellent, and you don't have to spend any tokens on them. The pictures do look a little older, like the type of stuff I was getting ten years ago. But they are still pretty damn good. Check out Julie in the pictures section, does she or does she not look liked a big boobed Paris Hilton? Anyway, the pictures are good but not enough redemption for the crappy videos section.
The girls here are actually very hot. Thats what I never understood about speculum pics, they always seemed to get the hottest girls. I wouldn't say these are the hottest girls, but when someone approachs a girl and says "i'd like to video you playing with various gyno devices" i would think only the skankiest girls would apply. Guess not. The action is all masturbatory, using things like speculums, medical bones, stuff like that. Really good for fans of the stuff, but if you're not a fan you won't like it at all.
The site features 11 different video sets of girls at the time. The site is updated about every two days. So you do get a great update schedule, but if you like it you better keep saving up the tokens!
Conclusion
Crap in my opinion. This sucks for speculum fans, because I don't know of many sites with a primary focus on this fetish. And when one comes around, it is a big mish mash of crap. I'm sure the webmasters will defend the token issue, saying that even with tokens its a better deal than most reality sites. Bullshit. DRM issues? Bullshit. It's undefendable. It's a low monthly price, but then you have to pay more and more. On top of all that, you have terrible segmenting which means more segments, more tokens, more ripping off of a small fanbase. Again, they defend it by saying that its a better deal than buying adult dvds. Another lame copout. The worst part is, none of this is mentioned on the join page. So unless you read the review here, you'd have no idea about this system. Its mentioned on the FAQ, but who reads the FAQ before joining? Stay away unless they change their business practices.
