| Review of Mike South:
Some guys like blondes. Some guys like brunettes. Some guys like redheads. Some guys like seeing some two-girl, lesbian action. One guy likes it all, and his name is Mike South. Mike South is apparently a porn star, although I've never seen any of his videos. But since my introduction to porn videos here on the internet, I can't say that I have kept up with the porn industry. It's sort of passing me by! But Mike South, cool name, cool guy, and this is his site!
Mike South is a mixed website with lots of girls. Mr. South is the common denominator in all of these videos, as he participates and casts these girls. Mike South offers both videos and pictures, as a lot of sites do. But I would consider it more of a picture site, so if your looking for lots of video content, perhaps you shouldn't go south. However, if you like both pictures and movies, Mike South should serve you well as their ideal customer.
The site design is a little confusing when you first sign in. I didn't quite know where to go to get the meat of the website. I think this is due to the labelling of stuff. Galleries is where you want to go for the meat, in case you were wondering  Some of the links are a little misleading and confusing, but once you understand it all you are set. This is also the case on the main Mike South page, I felt as if the members link was sort of hidden, and hard to find. Once you get to the galleries section, you are free of all the confusion and it's clear (and good) sailing from here. You are given a choice of sections, including the girls by hair color, and also the choice of two girl sets. When you pick the page you'd like, you get thumbnails of each girl and then selecting the girls will give you a nicer thumbnail, as well as text links to the pictures and videos for the girls. After the initial confusion, it's a cool little setup which is somewhat simple, but gets the point across!
Since the pictures seem to have a slightly bigger importance than the videos, I will talk about them first. I have to say, the pictures are a real crapshoot. Mike South has obviously been doing this for a long time. Over time, the photography has definately gotten better. At the same time, there are some good shots from like 1998 and some bad shots from 2003. So like I said, it's a crapshoot. Don't get me wrong: theres some really good pictures on Mike South. The problem is that I said "some." I think there needs to be a better consistency with the pictures. Size-wise they are great, and I liked that they are all uniquely named. It's just that some of the pictures are just blotchy and bad. I'm not sure why: some look like they may be vidcaps, but some just look bad.
The pictures are not organized in, well, an organized way! Each girl has different series, and the most popular seem to be "glamour shots," "hardcore," and "facials." Each girl usually has one of these three. However, it really varies from set to set. I'm just talking about observed averages The action in the pictures tends to be more posing and hardcore. The pictures are taken very well but some of the older ones show their age, they just look like late nineties porn! Nothing overly bad about that. The thumbnails are done very well, giving you a great idea of the picture quality (except for some of the blotchy ones, it doesnt come through on the thumbnail so you are expecting this great photo and you get poop.) As a whole I'd rate them slightly below average.
The videos are a different bag completely. Instead of getting full scene movies, you get little pop clips that are over before they begin. Mike South says that they can't afford to put up the full length features they do on video, so I guess the clips will have to suffice. They do offer their full lengths over on one of the pay-per-view sites, but there is of course an additional feed and no downloading. Most of the clips are cumshot facials and blowjobs, but everything is thrown in here. I'm just trying to give you an idea of specifics on a website full of generalities. That was kind of poetic, I gotta stop doing that So expect short clips hee, there are a few that are longer (again, its hard to pigeonhole everything here) but for the most part you are getting short ones. The videos also range in quality- but for the most part you're not going to want to fullscreen these.
One of the bigger disappointments of the site is that with everything grouped together, and the general nature, sometimes you are disappointed. I really liked a few girls, and they didn't have movies, and one lame picture set. And some of the girls I didn't care for as much, they had a ton of stuff up. Like I said before, it's just a big crapshoot and sometimes it doesn't pay off.
The girls on Mike South range from "dayam, I wanna hit dat!" to "didn't she teach me biology in third grade?" Theres a real mixture here. Some girls are straight out beautiful, while others are a little less hot. The thing is, they are all posed up in most of the pictures.. so the girls that look like Mrs. Lloyd from Biology class, are posed just like the hot supermodel who didn't catch a break so she has to spread her lips. I don't mind normal looking women when they are posed like normal, but here the fit just doesn't seem right. Well, I can't imagine you not falling in love with at least one girl on here- but I can imagine you not falling in love with all of the girls on here. It's just that kind of site- mixed. I hate to keep coming back to that theme but it's just really true here.
To touch on the exclusiveness of the website, a lot of the girls are featured in Mike South's porn videos. However, the sets are exclusive to the site. You just may have seen the girls before. All the non exclusive stuff is on the PPV site, I do believe. So not much worries here.
There are no bonus sites with your membership to Mike South. However, they throw in some cool extras which I liked. One is Mike's rant section, where he speaks lots of truths about porn and the issues around it. It has the schedule of Mike South in case you want to be in any of his movies. It has picture galleries from various porn movies, which is nothing special but kind of cool. Theres a link that is like a TGP for other pay sites out there, which is pretty cool. And of course theres the option of the Pay Per View streaming video. Theres also some various pictures from porn shows and whatnot. Lots of cool stuff as extras. Also, the Mike South page contains a good amount of content- definately over 100 girls just in the hair color section!
Conclusion
Mike South is a decent site- that is just too mixed to score big. It doesn't work as a picture site due to some of the shoddier looking content, and it doesn't work as a video site due to the short videos. I would say, lets trash some of the older stuff if you can't put it through a photo program and make it better. Let's also examine the viability of doing full videos instead of shorter clips, or lowering the price since you can't do full videos. Mike South is a site that when it's good, it's real good.. it's just not consistent enough for me.
