| Review of Tara James:
First Impressions:
I was scanning the radio a few days ago and caught a little news spot on American public broadcasting about the multibillion dollar adult industry seeing most of its earnings in amateur and independent porn. I do appreciate the production values of big budget adult films, but I really feel that this is the sign of a health marketplace. Perhaps unlike the music industry, a young talent like the 18-year-old cheerleader, Tara James, can have a shot at actually making some money without tons of work. There appears to be a lot of original photo content here, so I'm sure she's put a good effort into this site, but my first impression is that this is a very modest little site featuring a very cute young star. Not likely to revolutionize the genre but potentially a very respectable little site.
The content:
It doesn't take long to figure out that, in terms of the original content, this one's definitely got a lot more going in the photo department. I count 76 galleries of Tara, a couple featuring girlfriends for cuddling and mock sex. Tara looked great as a long-haired brunette as well, and it's nice to have the variation in her looks given the similarity in most of the content. Galleries have between 25 and 50 pics on average and generally fall into the strip tease category with a bit of dildo play to spice it up. The pics look quite good, but the 500X700 to 600X800 resolution throughout isn't exactly hi-res.
There's a fair bit of video here as well but only a small portion of it is original, featuring Tara in a couple of strip-tease sequences with full pop soundtracks. I think I can objectively say that these shorts are lacking something. I did rather enjoy the pickle movie, but the quality hovers between 180X240 and 240X320 in windows media format, and there seem to be only broken links to the full film .wmv files, meaning you get to download a handful of clips for each (very0 short film.
There's a little interview flic where, despite the terrible video quality and misnamed links, you at least get to hear Tara and her webmistress/camerawoman and their lovely southern American accents. In case you're wondering about her wit and personality Tara wants you to know that you shouldn't "think that just because I'm naked on the web that I'm an airhead. I maintain an "A" average and still find time to be the second captain of our cheerleading squad." How's that for accomplishment?
In all seriousness, I get a really good feeling about Tara and found the photo spreads to do her perky little body justice. The oddest thing here is definitely the choice of the licensed video content that makes up the other half of the content at the site. The following movies are broken into scenes and available as approximately 100M mpeg files each, or something around half that size in windows media (where available). The list of licensed films at the moment is: Amateur Angels, Breakin' em In 3-6, Assualt that Ass, Dirty Newcummers 9, 10, and 11, Bang My White Tight Ass, Hardcore Training, Ass Busters 2, Young, World Class Ass 2, Straight to the Ass, Young Ripe Melons 2, Face Fucked 4, World Class Ass 1, and Throat Gaggers.
With 6 or more scenes in each, it's a fair bit of content, particularly when you have to load 12-20 short clips into your download manager for each scene. The higher quality mpeg files are about 5-9 meg each which ends up being quite passable at around 700kb/s playback. It's definitely not DVD quality, but it is decent at least. The thing that's most confusing about this site, for me anyway, is the big gap between the original content of Tara herself and the licensed films that make up the rest of the site's content. I have no problem with an anal focus in porn films, mind you. It's just that for a teen site that leans toward softcore, it might make more sense to bring in other teen content. I'm thinking stuff like masturbation movies, not multiple penetration harcore. Maybe that's where Tara James is going. I certainly wouldn't complain. Maybe, more likely, her webmaster and designer just decided that this is the content you need to include to have successful independently produced adult site. I think it's kind of sad if that's the case. To me it would be much more logical to network through other single girl, amateur, and teen sites to keep the "bonus" and licensed content all in the same genre.
Cutting to the chase:
Given what I've just said about the weirdness of a site that caters to both fans of softcore teen strip shows and masturbation and lovers of double penetration and hardcore anal films, this one is definitely better for eclectic tastes. I found Tara herself suitably charming and pretty, but I would have a hard time justifying the $25/month price tag. Then again, the $1 for 3 day trial offer is really a steal, and I recommend that anyone at all attracted to Tara's looks check it out. Remember to cancel before they bill you for more time, or stay on so you can put together a sizable collection of Tara's pics at your leisure. For serious fans of teen content, this sassy southern belle may be just the thing. For all others, there are better and more price efficient ways to collect a bit of everything from first timers to anal veterans.
