Review of Video Pass:

For a while now we have had to put up with getting the same Redlight Studios movies on whateever mega-video site we decided to sign up for, heck we've even constantly been promised exclusive reality content just to end up with yet another source for Redlight movies. If you can't quite remember which movies are produced by Redlight then I can tell you that they are the ones on Deluxepass and on Videosz.com, the two very best places to download them where I like to recommend Videosz.com because of it's kickass user interface. With Videopass we have a new player in town and to my great surprise it's videos are from other studios. To name a few of these: Dreamland, Don Goo, Pure Filth, Cherry Boxxx and the list goes on. Don't be too shocked if you haven't heard of any of these studios I only vaguely recall two or so and I found that very refreshing from such a huge movies provider.

Ok just for the record we don't get the usual, close to dvd-quality, videos we might have gotten accustomed to from the Redlight movies. To give you a rough idea of the difference in quality, a scene from a movie on videosz.com is usually around 150-200mb where a whole movie at videopass.com is around 200-250mb. This difference in quality is certainly noticeable no doubt about it and the movies do look blocky when blown to full screen viewing, still it's not bad and one the other hand it's nice to download a 90 minute porn flick in just one file.

Talking about the files, what we are dealing with here are .wmv files and just to completely ruin the fun for us, yes they are using DRM license on all their movies (bet you didn't see that coming). For those of you who still haven't gotten acquainted with the wonderful DRM technology then it's best described as a technology that allows the copyright holder of the material to time restrict your files so that after a predefined period of time you would be unable to play the movies you downloaded without having your license renewed, this is done with a membership and it all happens automatically.

A lot of bad things have been said about DRM lately because we see more and more paysites resorting to it in hopes of keeping their members or perhaps their content from being spread through p2p. As a consumer I get awfully disappointed when I find out that on this site I have to be a member to watch the movies I have downloaded because I'm used to a lot of other high quality sites not putting any restrictions on the files that I have on my hard drive. On the other hand I understand why the companies would want to protect their investment, content and keep their members around. Still I have to say that if I had known that this site used DRM files I probably wouldn't have signed up. Now that I have, at least I have 30 days to download and watch over 500 full length movies…

The update frequency is a mystery. Videopass simply doesn't talk about updating the site and frankly I don't think I care that much about it in this case. Videopass.com is probably just to be thought of a one time fee porn amusement park where you just pay to get in and then everything is at your disposal. Looking at the covers for the movies I don't think I could get all that excited about when more will be added. Don't get me wrong there are a lot of nice movies here but either it's the quality of the scanning of the front covers or it's because the movies are quite old but they look kinda jaded. You will know what I'm talking about by taking the tour.

The tour is where we gotta give this site a lot of credit as well. We are not being pulled around by our noses while desperately trying to estimate what and how much porn we are going to get here. You can go there, check out covers for all the videos, see exactly how many there are, search through them, read info and more you just have to sign up to actually download the movies. Not many can go through this and argue that they didn't get what they paid for and I didn't notice any ads, popups or anything of the kind here.

When you joining you have two options:

1. You can pay-per-movie. This means you will pay $7 per movie you download (still drm)
2. You can pay for access to all the movies for $30

Conclusion:
This really is a great value buy and because of the new studios lined up and the fact that we get over 500 movies to download I was gonna give this site 5 stars right off the bat for also keeping the content so organized and easy to navigate through. However the DRM files are like an ice cold shower and for this alone I am gonna have to scratch a star from the rating. Some will think it's too much and that they like this site and decided to stay members, others will think the opposite. For my part I think even if I only decide to stay for the 30 days and watch the movies then only I sure as hell got my bucks banged up so I'm gonna recommend this one as a great pornstar movie resource.
