| Review of POV Porn:
Sometimes, it's fun to get a little interactive with our porn. No, I don't mean closing your eyes and pretending you are there... then you can't watch the porn! Sometimes it's just fun to watch porn from the guys point of view.. as if you were there, doing these things to this beautiful young woman. Thus we have the genre of POV (point of view) porn, which is where the camera man is also your porn star. Hey, this way you don't have to pay the porn star and the camera man, right? This style is popular among some, and there have been some sites popping up with exclusive use of this angle. POVporn is a website along these lines!
POV Porn is a reality site, which likes to seperate itself from the other reality sites out there. POV Porn claims that these other sites are heavily scripted, the actresses paid for in advance, and the themes well thought out to provide maximum sales. Who would have thunk it? POV Porn claims to be different in that these really are amateur girls, first time of video, etc. etc.. Their name derives from the fact that the guy who is having sex also is holding the camera. While this is true in every set, they also have side shots and whatnot, so it's not 100% POV either. As with all reality sites, there is a focus on video but also plenty of room for pictures and extras as well.
POV Porn is not set up like most reality sites, just one way they try to distance themselves from that stereotype. The site is set up more like a single model amateur site actually, which is cool because I really like that kind of set up. When you go into the members page, you have a bunch of the more non-important links on your left (guestbook, etc) and on your right you have links to the goodies- pictures, videos, and also bloopers! On the main portion of the page you get links to the two most recent updates and then a description of the site, the site's star Peter Romero, and some information about the site and the ideas behind it. Pretty cool stuff. There are also links to the updates by months, which happen to contain a few thoughts by Peter Romero which are actually kind of cool, especially the "break up letter" which is just awesome. Each section is very clean, and dare I say, a little under-thumbnailled? Well, under is better than over in my book.. so I give this solid site design an A in my book!
The videos on POV porn are available in two formats: Quicktime MOV or Windows Media WMV. They are downloadable, and they come in segments. I didn't find a real rhyme or reason to the segmentation, but they are all about two minutes long and theres anywhere from 3-8 per girl with the mode being six. The file sizes of these segments are extremely small (6-7 MB each) so this might be a good site for those of you who don't have a broadband connection. Unfortunately, with that smaller file size comes a lower quality video. And the quality here at POV porn is not great by any means. At normal size, you can see a little pixelation here and there. At full screen, the pixelation becomes even more apparent and somewhat intolerable in some cases. Downloading the small files is nice and easy, though, so unless you are a quality nut, this won't be a huge problem for you. The videos do run smoothly and there aren't any brightness or color problems, the only real issue is the minor pixelation that you will get.
The action on the video is, as you would expect, primarily in the POV perspective. I'll be honest and say that I prefer the more traditional porn shots over the POV shots, but there are lots of POV fans out there. For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, POV is when the dude holding the camera is the same guy having sex. It's popular on sites like BrunoB. With this perspective, you don't get a lot of changing camera angles, which I like in porn. So you basically have to count on changing positions a lot to keep things fresh and interesting. On POV porn, they do change it up quite a bit, and they also let loose the POV perspective at times to make the videos more interesting. As far as POV videos, it works really good!
POV Porn also has a pictures section. The pictures section is actually quite good, chock full of great pictures. They have even less content from the first person perspective here in the pictures section, but it never seems to translate well to pictures anyway. Instead, you get some nicely posed and action shots here. Most of the girls are the same from the video shoots, but these are not vidcaps. The pictures look really good, pretty crisp and clean (which gives them an advantage over the videos in some places!) and some nice shooting. Definately a cool extra, which I think will be used more on this site than maybe some other reality sites, just to see some of these girls in high-res!
Speaking of the girls, there is a nice mixture of girls here on POV porn. As a whole, they tend to be very attractive 18-24 year old girls. Some of the girls on here have more of a girl next door look, while others have the porn star look to them. It's a nice mixture. Most of the girls on here are white, but there are some hot ass non white girls on here too. There really is no set type of girl on here, theres probably something for everyone unless you like older women, they stay pretty far away from that genre here. There are lots of girls too, so even if theres a few you don't care for, it's still well worth the money!
The content level on POV porn is pretty high. At the time of review, they were close to having fifty models on the site. Some of the girls here have more than one set, as well, so theres definately no lack of content here. The site is updated around twice a month with new sets, so you will stay busy at POV Porn. While they don't have any extra sites, POV Porn does have some cool extras. They run live shows here and there with their models. They also are working on getting a chat room, a guestbook, and other cool features. I really like that Peter Romero encourages communication, always asking for opinions and looking for new talent through email. I always like that personal touch on a porn site, because so many of them just seem cold and informal. Overall, it's a great deal despite not having any real bonuses.
Conclusion
POV Porn is a good site with some nice content. It's lower quality videos hold it back a bit (only in some cases, others are fine) from it's full potential.. that doesn't mean you shouldn't check it out, because theres chock fulls of great porn here.
