Review of Kaila Yu:
It used to be that most things marked "Made in Taiwan" were of dubious value and quality, but if you do a bit of research you'll know that this simply isn't the case any longer.
Taiwanese native Kaila Yu tries to be all about quality. She got her big break with an August 2000 Playboy centerfold spread, and ever since, has been working faster than an Asian plastic-mold injector to ensure her success...in the music industry. She wants to be the next Mariah Carey (sans breakdown hopefully) and I listened to some cuts of her songs and they do show promise. Going from Mandarin-only to English over the past few years has been a challenge, but in addition to language skills she's a recent graduate of UCLA with a degree in Asian-American studies.
So what about her porn? What's the deal with her site? Well, glad you asked. I've got a problem with it, but first let's run through some of the membership benefits and I'll lay that out.
Much like a recent review I wrote for playboyplus.com ( http://www.pornliving.com/rev/449/playboyplus.html ), this place isn't for anyone looking for hardcore. It's all highbrow stuff with great music and all smoothed-out edges. The video content could be greater because there is only about 30 videos and they are pretty short vignettes at that (around three minutes a piece in many cases)...oldies or rock or soft stuff plays in the backround while shy-at-times Kaila sticks to whatever her theme is for that particular video (hula girl, sailor girl, party chick and so on). It's top drawer as far as quality, and is one of the best I've seen blown up for full size viewing, but I feel they are still a bit too short. She does let you grab them all for your collection, but with the lack of updates, you have to wait a long time in between.
She has the obligatory "Friends" area that's pretty large with a nice variety of photos from all her rabbit friends, and also the inevitable pitches to head to their sites. Typical fare.
Picture galleries all look good, but again, not enough updates. You can get them all in zip format for quick storage but there are one-month gaps-a-plenty because all her other activities must not allow her to get new stuff to this place as much as she would like. I'm certainly understanding but at the same time if you're gonna put this out for people the content flow just has to stream better than this. Don't get me wrong, the place isn't Tumbleweeds Junction, but every bit of the site reflects the update problem, for instance...
Last chat transcript is lited 10/29/01! And the frontpage promises weekly chat sessions...yeah, right. I went to see the next scheduled chat and the listing was for July 8th at 7:00 pm. Wow. That's just horrible either way you go since if it was from last summer..complete crap...and if it's for this summer...Geez! Why are you making us wait this long? There's a months-old posting from her saying her computer crashed and she can't get the web cam working but NOTHING since then has been written to let us know what's going to happen with that. I don't get it, because this site has the potential to be amazingly good, but she needs to spend more time injecting some reality and personality into it and shut down the robots.
BOTTOM LINE: Time to turn off the AutoPilot
