| Review of Club Red Light:
*note* Because of technical difficulties with this webpage that seem to have been rectified as of now, the review below is not properly updated but will be within the next 48 hours. We can at the moment say some of the videos CAN be downloaded as DRM protected wmv files. We have not found out why some can be downloaded and some only streamed yet. Also the pages have just recently started loading so a more in-depth review is underway. I have just received a mail from the producers of the site. They have confirmed they have been having hosting problems and they will be letting me know when they are sure everything is back to normal. *note*
I am so torn right now, you can't even imagine. This is one of the few sites where I approached the producers of club red light to ask if they would allow me access to review their site. I did this because Club Red Light is the official site of Redlight District, the pioneers in internet gonzo porn. 4 years ago almost every new site that popped up everywhere and looked semi-interesting was built on content produced by Redlight District. This made for some good sites usually because the action was always raw and the models were cute and up for it. Of course a lot of people stood up and took notice of their success and ever since, other companies have copied this style of gonzo porn an insane amount of times. But Redlight District is the genesis and this makes it extremely interesting to have a look at for me.
So why am I torn? In short it was because the site turned out to be a horribly drawn out experience for me and honestly I don't know what is wrong here. The pages took 3-4 minutes to load and some times they did not load at all. To see if we were able to sort this out we tried a couple of things to improve the performance of the site. Of course we tried switching browsers from Firefox to IE6 and IE7, this did nothing, the pages still took up to 5 minutes to load and still completely failed at times. Next step was to route traffic through dedicated proxies. I tried my US and my EU proxy, still no improvement in speed. I finally gave up trying to get any kind of decent loading times and called upon another friend in the US to surf the site, it didn't take him long to get fed up waiting for a page to be fully loaded. The funny thing is that we both experienced good speeds and respond times to the site, the pages were just all screwy when loading them.
In the end I was able to get to one movie's page where I could watch the scenes and I watched 3 of them. Now it's just annoying that in this review where we are supposed to talk about who did what to who, where and for how long, we have to fall back on being annoyed with the technology. See when I finally got to the movie page, get this, it was flash streaming only... ooow the humanity. Now it is absolutely crucial that you have an excellent connection to the site, because if you don't all you get is clips in bits and pieces, so start praying for good routing! As I mentioned I actually got good speed to the site so once the page had loaded with the flash player, I was able to stream the movies rather well. However the disappointment of streaming movie only did it damage to me already.
After all this I simply didn't have the energy to go over the site because I would never want to come back until the pages would load within at least 30 seconds. (I'll be back if I am told this is no longer an issue).
What I can tell you is that there is a lot of online exclusive video content here because Redlight District actually stopped allowing other sites to feature their productions about 2-3 years ago. So everything produced since then is not online exclusive to clubredlight.com. Here is a direct copy paste from their page of how much content to expect:
1,551 Video Scenes - 25,607 Hi-rez Images - 1,189 Girls. A lot of these scenes are oldish and chances are good that you have run into them on other sites. I would say about half at this time is the new stuff that is exclusive to Club Redlight.
The Bottom line
Redlight District does some of the very best gonzo porn productions, I know this! However, this site proved to be the most difficult site for me, ever, to get to load. On top of that the videos are just flash streamed, granted I like this a lot better than wmv but overall this site let me down and if I had paid full price I would be asking for my money back right now.
