| Review of Adult Movie DB:
Sometimes you just need to check out a good adult movie. Today is one of those times for me, actually. I am in a hotel, I've been here all week. I don't have any of my collection. Hell, all I can think about is getting my hands on some porn. I went all around town looking for a shop, or something. Nothing panned out. So here I am, broke, alone, and writing about porn. I wouldn't want it any other way!
Adult Movie Database is all about movies. As you can see from its name, it is a database. Therefore, there is no real theme. In fact, you could say that the theme is that there is no theme, its just a big mish mash of porn movies. With that said, there can be a lot of sites out there like this. We will see if it matches up as we look through the site, but my early indications are that it might be passable.
When you first sign into Adult Movie Database, you are given 7 thumbs for each set- one is supersized, the other six are regular sized. There are a handful of sets on each page. Unfortunately, this is all that there really is to the site. I mean, there are tons and tons of pages like this, but this is it. There are a few disadvantages to this really. The first would be that there is absolutely no way to mark your place. You just have to remember thumbnails, I guess. Another would be that it just looks kind of thrown together and juvenile. And the third, and biggest, is thhat it just bores the heck out of you. Sure the previews are great, but we need a little more here, really. And this site just doesn't serve like I'd like it to. With the word database used, you would think of this vast, searchable library. Nope, not here.
Let's talk about the videos, then. You have the option of downloading the video in segments.. high WMV is one full segment, medium MPG is 5 minute segments, and low WMV is 3 minute segments. I love this rolling thunder way of doing quality levels, personally. We already went over the basic video setup page, and again I just need to stress those weaknesses we already talked about.
The video quality here comes across quite good. The high quality videos are 1192k and they look very good at full screen. As far as the camerawork goes, it is on the better side of the amateur scope of things. I won't say its the best ever but it is certainly nowhere near the worst. I enjoyed these videos for what they were and they looked really good in my humble opinion.
And this is what really seperates Adult Movie Database from a lot of the other video supersites. AMD tends to have more amateur, almost straight out of a reality site content. Whereas those other sites tend to focus more on stuff available on DVD, here you get a bigger focus on the more amateur side of things. I love it; best of both worlds, and its cool that this just doesn't have the same 50 studios' movies that some comparable sites have.
AMD has also put picture sets to go along with their video work. Naturally, these are vidcaps. You really won't expect much else from a supersite. But for vidcaps, the screen quality is pretty good. Now don't get me wrong, compare this to a real picture site and it blows. But for vidcaps, job done ok. There is a zip file you can download of all of the pictures too, to make it easier for you.
As with most database sites, you really get a mishmash of girls and action here. It is hard to specify exactly what is going on because there is so much going on from set to set. I will say that things here do hit the more amateur side of things, but that is about the only generalization I can make right now.
The site is updated on an almost daily basis, definately more than once a week. That leads to much content, and a lot of navigating through endless pages (mainly because they are not numbered!) There are no further bonus sites, but they aren't completely neccesary just due to the sheer number of sets here!
Conclusion
This is a very bland site, whose site design really harnesses it from further growth. It isn't a great deal compared to video supersites, and overall it just seems kinda fizzley with the look of the site practically stolen from other bigger and better sites.. Still, there is nothing horrible about it except its unfortunate site design and the fact that it only tries to immitate other sites but doesn't succeed and that really makes irrelevant when it's come to considering joining a good archive site. It's a nice site with tons of videos, but it just never did much for me.
