Review of New Nude Mag:
Hegre, Carre, & Kern. No this is not the name of a law firm. Although it does sound like it kind of, doesn't it? Have you been injured at work? Let the heavy hitters at Hegre, Carre, and Kern seek every legal dollar you can stiff out of those bastards! Sounds funny. But these guys are not lawyers, they are artsy photographers. They are the makers of a kind of picture called The New Nude. And together they, and other less famous perveyors of the artsy industry, have combined to put out a magazine/website entitled The New Nude Mag. This comes both in print and online form. Obviously, we will be talking about its online incarnation today.
New Nude Mag is a website with a focus on artsy erotica. If you've never seen the art stuff before, it is basically like, well, art. In that it is extremely thought out, extremely posed out, and very made up. It's an odd form of erotica, but it is still erotica all the same. New Nude Mag serves as a sort of webzine where all of the features of a regular magazine are right online, and you can access them here and there. So that is what this site is all about, kind of a culmination of all the great artists and photographers who do their own sites in this genre, which is actually pretty cool for what it is.
When you first sign into New Nude Mag, you are given a page that is kinda all over the place. I say that because there is a lot of links, and a lot of stuff, right here on the front page. There is so much stuff I really can't even list it all off. The most important would probably be the topbar, which is also jam packed full of stuff. Well this site is supposed to read like a magazine, and it kind of does. Actually it looks like a Maxim/FHM type magazine where they just fit all kinda of random stuff wherever they can fit it. But since this is a porn site it doesn't work out as well. Overall, while the site design is nothing too offensive or bad, I'd say it is still not horrible either. It will take a little getting used to, however.
As you could imagine, the pictures here are the focus. As with any of the art sites, you know you are going to get awesome quality pictures. And of course that happens right here. There are all kinds of photos. There is a photo forum where artists can upload there work. There is exclusive stuff to the web, there is some stuff from the magazines, all kinds of stuff. While it might vary from artist to artist, the picture I saw was 598 x 900 pixels. Not a terrible number by any means, but the focus here is really on what is in the picture, not the size of it. Sets from the actual magazine can be downloaded in either high or low resolution as well.
Being a photo site, you can imagine there are no videos here. Basically, it would just harm the site in my opinion anyway. It's all about pictures here, and being a web version of a magazine. Videos wouldn't help much in that regard. So if you are looking for videos, another site might be a better fit for you. Thats all there really is to say here.
This is an unconvential site. And the pictures come across as that. These are not your daddy's porn images. These are more like your great, great grandfathers porn images. Not that they are old, but they evoke a time and place where porn was more than just having random sluts jump on a bus and fuck your brains out. This is where porn, and the female body, is a thing of beauty. Now I am preaching all of this, but personally, I am a fuck your brains out kind of guy. But I know some people may seem intrigued by this, so I am trying to accurately describe it.
There was only one magazine available at the time of this review. It has about 15 picture sets to it. There are also some exclusive pictures as well as the contest pictures I was telling you about. But I wouldn't exactly consider this site swimming in content. Maybe after a few issues it will get better, but issues come out 4 times a year, so it will be a while until this site is really beefy.
I can't recommend this site. There are tons of sites in this genre that are way better, and some feature the very artists profiled here. It's magazine style has a shot to be good, but it just ends up being too messy. And while the actual work here is good, I just think that for the price you pay for this, you can sign up for a couple of the best artists' sites for maybe not as long, but get some great content. The update schedule doesn't really enthrall me, overall, this can just be better, nice idea but not so nice execution and should perhaps have been left as an off-line venture.
