| Review of Not Chic:
Todays website is Not Chic. Well, to fully understand what that means, we must first define the word "chic." Now I've heard the word tossed around a bit, but it's not something that is often said in my circles. Not very often do you hear "hey that carburetor is so chic!" Well, chic means fashionable, stylish and elegant. So this is a porn site that is not stylish and elegant. Hell yeah. Now let's go back to talking about that kick ass carburetor. Oh wait, nope, got my wrong review group mixed in there. Let's talk about this site, and what makes it so "not chic!"
Not Chic is a new website opened by John B. Root. For those who don't know him, and I didn't, he is the man behind explicite.com as well as a pretty famous French pornographer. Hey, works for me. And apparently, his work is always kind of beautiful, yet still very hardcore and pornographic. With Not Chic, he steps that pornographic up a notch into the super hardcore realm. This site is all about oversized dildoes, fisting, and all that good stuff. Wow, you might say. Can someone pull off a site like this and still keep up that reputation of being an amazing photographer and pornographer? We'll see!
When you first sign into Not Chic, you are given a home page which lists the latest photo set, the latest video set, and also the 10 most popular sets, be it videos or photos. The photo update is given a banner like thumbnail which stretches across the screen. The video update is a little more traditional with three more regular sized thumbs. Then with the top 10 we get the thumbnails that most look traditional. Hey, I am all for variation and this site has it. While it might be a weird way to showcase everything, at least it is unique and different from the norm. On the top of the site is a toolbar that will lead you wherever you want to go, be it pictures, videos, bonuses, or even the shop. Not a bad setup at all. It might be a little weird for some people, but I like how it throws a curveball into originality.
There seems to be a dual focus on both the videos and the pictures. Neither one is given more precedent, and they both look pretty good. We will talk pictures first since we rarely get the chance to. Upon going to the pictures page, you are given a page with four sets each. You get one of those weird longer thumbnail banner deals, and then three more regular thumbnails. They all look pretty good and give off a great idea of what is going on in the set. And trust me, here, there is a LOT going on. But we get into that later. For now, let's talk more about the pictures.
You have options here on Not Chic! For each picture, you can check out high or low sizes of the pictures. You can also download a zip file of the entire set. So no need to point and click everything if you really like a particular set. Each picture looks absolutely gorgeous, like a magazine taken picture if not better. While that might throw some off, I guess you can have a nice snapshot taken of a girl fucking a knife. And that can even be made, well, kind of beautiful, if you are an artist the talent of this one!
To keep up with the times, this is not just a picture site. There is also a nice number of videos too. The videos are only downloadable in one format, and that is WMV. There is also no other options as far as quality goes. Basically just the one style of video. Each girl has three thumbnails per set, and they all look pretty good and give you a good idea of what you are getting with the set. The page gives you the length of the video, update date, and a little bit of a description. Then there is the voting system that allows you to put a rating to each video. Overall, a nice little page setup, although I'm sure some will hunger for more video options.
The quality here, for the one option you get, is pretty weak. The videos come in at 348k, and they are extremely pixely and hard to watch at full screen. It kind of sucks actually, having such good pictures and then having some weaker videos. You know a lot of people look at sites specifically for the movies, so this will be a let down for a lot of you.
The girls on Not Chic are pretty amazingly hot girls. For the actions they are performing, they are extremely good looking! Usually when you think of girls doing these things, you don't expect beauty. Here, you do get a couple of arfers, but for the most part, you get pretty girls. As far as the action, it is definately not chic. It is super hardcore stuff, to give you some examples, there is a girl who seductively poses with a knife in her, lots of fisting, some dp, basically some real hardcore stuff. It might not normally be your thing, but I think the presentation here will bring it up a notch for even non-fans!
At the time of review, there were a total of 20 picture sets and 15 video sets. Not a bad deal considering the site was just put up! It's looking like they will be aiming for weekly updates as well, so that is very cool. Everything is timestamped but its just hard to say because its so new.
It should be mentioned that the site claims to be material that has already been seen on Explicite.com. So it might not be exclusive to those members of explicite, but as far as the rest of the web goes, this isn't the type of stuff you will see everywhere.
The bonuses here are limited to some of, but not many, of the galleries from some of Root's other works on the web. It's not really a good deal because its about a handful of sets.
Conclusion
Not Chic has a cool name, and a cool idea to it. Ultra hardcore porn done in the same way as most softcore sets are done. Hey, it works here, and while Not Chic is not high on content level right now, it is definately a site to look at both now and in the future if you like your porn to be a little "off-beat".
